Norwegian police announced the extradition of a man to Rwanda to face trial for murder charges related to the 1994 genocide in the country.

The police of Norway announced on Tuesday its decision to extradite a man to Rwanda at its request for a court on charges of committing murders during the genocide that took place in the country in 1994. "The decision to extradite the man was made after a lengthy assessment process and was taken with consideration of all relevant legal and human rights standards," said the police in an official statement. The man, whose identity is not disclosed, is accused of murders committed during the genocide in Rwanda, during which around 800 thousand people were killed, mostly from the Tutsi ethnic group.
