In Norway, employees of a fruit company discovered a batch of cocaine hidden in a box of bananas and alerted customs authorities. They found 147 kilograms of narcotics in nine boxes of bananas. The batch was discovered on April 3rd of last year and, according to Norwegian customs, is valued at around 170 million kroner (16.4 million dollars) on the black market, making it the largest in Scandinavian countries since 2023, when 2.3 tons of narcotics were found.
The cocaine was believed to have been shipped from South America, then through Sweden to the recipient, although it is likely that it was not intended for the Norwegian market. The statement mentions that "there is sufficient evidence that the cocaine was supposed to be delivered to the port of Antwerp based on information obtained through international cooperation with Europol and Belgian authorities."
