According to the Ministry of Transport of Norway, the number of electric vehicles traveling on the roads of the country has surpassed the number of cars running on fossil fuels for the first time in the history of Norwegian automobiles. Recent statistical data indicated that in 2024, the share of electric vehicle sales in Norway will make up 94 percent of the market - a new global record, while sales in the rest of Europe lagged behind. Despite Norway being a major producer of oil and gas, it has set a goal of selling only zero-emission automobiles by 2025, which is 10 years earlier than plans at the EU level.
One of the representatives of the Ministry of Transport of Norway noted: "This record demonstrates that our efforts in the field of market stimulation for electric vehicles have yielded results. We are pleased to see an increase in the number of vehicles without emissions on our roads and are proud to have achieved this important milestone."
