Buenos Aires, March 7 (NA) -- An explosive device detonated at the front of the U.S. Embassy in Oslo causing material damage to the complex's infrastructure, but without causing any personal injuries, during the early hours of this Sunday. The incident occurred at approximately 01:00 (local time) at the consular entrance section of the building, located in the western part of the city. According to information from the Argentine News Agency, the head of the Oslo police, Michael Delmer, stated in an interview with the public broadcaster NRK that the device detonated while the mission was closed, which prevented any injuries. "All necessary procedures are being carried out to clarify the circumstances of the event and collect evidence at the scene," the security forces explained in a statement. Currently, the area surrounding the U.S. embassy remains completely cordoned off as specialists analyze the remains of the device to determine its composition and origin. Meanwhile, the U.S. diplomatic delegation has maintained strict silence and has not yet issued an official statement, although Norwegian authorities confirmed that there is "direct" and constant communication between both governments to coordinate additional security measures.
